On Friday, Reince Priebus, the Republican National Committee chairman, issued this statement on the April jobs report:
While any uptick in employment is welcome news, today’s jobs report shows that Barack Obama’s big spending, energy-constricting agenda continues to leave economic relief out of reach for millions of American families and businesses. With gas prices at or over $4 a gallon, many unemployed Americans are now getting hit with another ill-timed setback in the Obama Economy. Even if this President doesn’t recognize the problem, American families know we can’t get back on sound economic footing by continuing to spend money we don’t have and restricting American energy production. If the President is serious about moving the recovery forward, he needs to work with Republicans to bring down energy costs and stop running up the nation’s credit card.
