America is the Land of the Free… Because They Were Brave

June 6, 1944: On this day sixty-seven years ago, men of the United States and Allied Forces landed on a beach in northern France, in an epic battle to reclaim  Europe from Hitler’s Nazi regime. Thousands would never leave the sands of Normandy alive.

Soldiers wade through surf and Nazi gunfire to secure a beachhead during the Allied Invasion, June 6, 1944.

The rest would carry on through the coming battles in Europe and back to the homefront they successfully protected, a success made possible by the D-Day Invasion.

Today, on this anniversary of D-Day, remember the bravery of the thousands of men who went into battle to stop the Nazi cancer from spreading to our shores.

If you know a WWII veteran, please take a moment to thank them for their service and sacrifice, for keeping the flame of liberty alive, whether they were at Normandy, in the Pacific theatre or protecting their country state-side.  Click the photo for a link to more D-Day information from the U.S. Army.
