Elizabeth Warren's Outrageous Statements

What Elizabeth Warren Said

What came out about Elizabeth Warren yesterday (September 21, 2011) was (an is) truly outrageous. In an August, 2011, video, Massachusetts Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren makes a case for progressive economic policies. She rejects the idea that it is possible for Americans to become wealthy in isolation.

In a video, filmed at an event in Andover, Mass., she says, “You built a factory out there? Good for you. But I want to be clear: you moved your goods to market on the roads the rest of us paid for; you hired workers the rest of us paid to educate; you were safe in your factory because of police forces and fire forces that the rest of us paid for. You didn’t have to worry that marauding bands would come and seize everything at your factory, and hire someone to protect against this, because of the work the rest of us did.” She continued, “Now look, you built a factory and it turned into something terrific, or a great idea? God bless. Keep a big hunk of it. But part of the underlying social contract is you take a hunk of that and pay forward for the next kid who comes along.”

Who Is Elizabeth Warren?

Warren is a Professor of Law at Harvard Law School. She is a Democrat. In the wake of the 2008-2011 financial crisis, she became chair of the Congressional Oversight Panel created to oversee the U.S. banking bailout, or TARP. She advocated the creation of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which was established by the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act that was signed into law by President Barack Obama on July 21, 2010. She is now running for the United States Senate seat in Massachusetts, a seat currently held by Scott Brown, and formerly held by the late Ted Kennedy. Her entrance into the Massachusetts Senate race marks her first-ever political bid. Some have wondered if her lack of political experience will prove crippling.

What Elizabeth Warren says completely ignores the fact that the government produces nothing, and has no money (other than what it takes from you). She wants to punish risk-takers and successful people. Isn’t it ironic that she is running for the senate seat once held by Ted Kennedy?

But that’s just my opinion.
