OWS Gang Hypocritical (Surprise)

OWS Gives Celebrity Salaries A Pass

Talk about selective indignation and hypocrisy. The OWS (and any other “Occupy”) gang has displayed both. Kanye West and Russell Simmons are two of the latest stars to show their solidarity with OWS, but aren’t they 1 percenters? (referring to the 99% of us who are not wealthy) From the OWS web page we learn, ” … we kicked off a protest against bank bailouts, corporate greed, and the unchecked power of Wall Street in Washington. In the last month, the message of “We are the 99%” has won the hearts and minds of over half of Americans … ” OWS claims to represent the “other” 99% of the nation, those not making millions of dollars a year. The occupiers have received support from left-leaning actors and entertainers, who believe that government policy favors big business and the wealthy.

Here is a quote from Mark Ruffalo, celebrity wanna-be and OWS supporter, “The corporate world with record profits could stand to be reigned in a little bit. After all we did bail their asses out.” Here is a quote from Alec Baldwin, “Stiffer penalties for white collar crime!!” But nowhere can I find how Baldwin defines crime. Roseanne Barr called for a system based not on “bloated talk radio hosts” and “that goddamn Aynn Rand book.” Susan Sarandon talked about the harm which the bankers have caused to Americans. She spoke of the lost jobs, the stolen homes, the broken dreams, the banker bailouts and bonuses, and the government’s failure to bail out the victims of the banksters’ crimes. Again, no definition of crime. House Democrat Leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said she supports the growing nationwide Occupy Wall Street movement, saying, “I support the message to the establishment, whether it’s Wall Street or the political establishment and the rest, that change has to happen.”

BTW, Simmons is worth $325 million, Barr is worth $80 million, West is worth $70 million, Baldwin is worth $65 million, Sarandon is worth $50 million, and Pelosi (with her husband) is worth $35.5 million. So why aren’t THEY being protested?

OWS and “Fair Share”

One (of the many) messages from the OWS gang is that the rich (the 1%) pay their “fair share” of taxes. But Oprah Winfrey earned $290 million in 2010. Even if her makeup person or cameraman earned $100,000, she earned thousands of times more than that. Is that fair? Celebrities earning hundreds or thousands of times more than the people who work with them are Oprah Winfrey ($290 million), Tyler Perry ($130 million), Jerry Bruckheimer ($113 million), Lady Gaga ($90 million) and Howard Stern ($76 million). The top 10 CEOs have an average salary of $43 million, which is nowhere near America’s top 10 celebrities, who earn an average salary of $100 million.

Celebrities can make any amount of money they want and OWS will not protest them!

But that’s just my opinion.
