Verizon misses BoA lesson, tries fee, then cancels it

On Friday, Verizon wireless announced that it will no longer be adding a $2 fee to customers that wish to pay their  bill using the pay-by-phone or on the internet.

The “convenience fee” would have been waived for anyone that paid their bills by sending in the payment by mail or if a customer set up recurring payments that automatically deducted from their bank accounts.

The new fee brought out anger from customers especially since Verizon had recently experienced trouble keeping it’s 4G and activation networks working properly over the Christmas holiday.

The fee announcement and resultant consumer outrage was reminiscent of the Bank of America debit card fee and the scenario ended much the same way.

On Friday afternoon, Verizon said that they are no longer discussing the fee.
