It’s Half Time. Are You Worried?

Forgive the football analogy but it is time for training camp…

The weekend’s news was all about Senator Harry Reid’s outlandish comments. Team Obama is running more disingenuous Bain Capital plant closures ads. Union PACs are falsely telling us that the Republicans want to give the rich a tax break while giving the middle class the shaft.

It’s ugly out there. If this were a football game it would be a nail biter. Our team  is well qualified and appears to do well but the referees (in the form of the MSM) have an obvious bias. The week before main street media chose to cover Romney’s remarks in Great Britain regarding security at the Olympics (never mind that he was in a unique position to address the very concerns that were headline stories just days earlier.) The left leaning news programs are more than willing to jump on the ‘Beat Romney’ bandwagon. And the DNC is pushing its ‘Us VS Them’ agenda. News reports about campaign spending indicate the DNC and Team Obama are outspending Team Romney at a record pace. And right now it’s working. To this outside observer it feels that Team Romney is on the defense and though they are a good team according to the most recent Rasmussen report they are behind by a field goal. Okay coach, is it time for a game change?

Like many conservatives, I don’t want to see my team taking it on the chin. We don’t like quarterback sacks and we’ve seen some doozies. Sure the team has sent out a few good defenders but we don’t want to see our team behind. We can’t help feel anxious. Some are worried the team may wait until too late to start on offense.

As Clint Eastwood reminded us during this year’s Superbowl commercial, “It’s halftime in America, too. People are out of work and they’re hurting. And they’re all wondering what they’re going to do to make a comeback. . . . This country can’t be knocked out with one punch. We get right back up again and when we do the world is going to hear the roar of our engines.”

So is it time for a game change? We are sure the coach has a good game plan but right this minute we can’t see it. We need to remember we don’t have all the info. We do know the quarterback is playing with one hand tied behind his back until he becomes the official candidate. Plus we hear they’re bringing in a new receiver who can catch the long pass and run full stride. The VP candidate could be a real game changer. Our team is in the locker room. They know the plays and are just about ready to show the rest of us.

Yeah, it’s halftime America. And our team is headed on to the field.
