Restoring Love: The People

This past weekend, my husband, brother and I had the honor of attending Glenn Beck’s Restoring Love. Without a doubt, it is one of the defining moments of my life!

As we walked around before the event, we met a lot of people. We wanted to get to know the people attending, and what exactly had drawn them to this event.

We met a couple from Minnesota, and Pam told us:

“We are here for such a time as this.” She said she believes that God has orchestrated this time, and she believes Glenn is a prophet, ordained by God, stating that “you will know a prophet by what they say and it coming true.” She believes it’s time for us to ban together as a nation for truth, saying the problems in our country are not political, they are spiritual.

Ephesians 6:12-18 says:

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.  Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”

We also met Shawn, who had flown in from Aurora, Colorado the morning of the event, and was flying back out after the event. As we talked to him, we found out he planned to take a cab back to the airport. We immediately told him we would give him a ride to the airport. We all hung out together until we went inside the arena, and ironically, found out that he was seated in the same area as we were- the floor of the arena, just on the other side of the stage. After the event, we met back up, had dinner together, and took him back to the airport. Without going into a lot of the details, we all know without a doubt that God had ordained our meeting! Had things happened any other way other than the way they happened, we would not have met Shawn, though he was just a few feet from us!

One couple we met as we were waiting outside the gates to be let into the arena, the Kennington’s traveled to Dallas, Texas from Utah. When we asked them why this event was so important to them, that they would travel all this way, her tearful response defined the day:

“We love America! And we want it back!”

We also met Ronald, a gentleman on staff at the arena. Ronald was another God-ordained moment in our evening! Ronald had been assigned to stand by the stage for the night, to help guard the historical artifacts that Glenn had flown in for Restoring Love. People were milling about, asking him questions about the different items, and we happened to strike up a conversation with him. He told us that he had tried to get his teenage sons to come to the event, but  they refused to come. He also told us that he had no idea what to expect, and was quite upset that his supervisor had put him so close to the stage. Ronald told us he would have preferred to be back in the back, rather than right up front. However, he had been able to hear part of the practice, and told us he was overwhelmed with what he had seen already. Now, what makes Ronald so special is that he is a black man. We know that race is not an issue for us Tea Partiers, but the main stream media tells Ronald otherwise! Knowing that he was not there by choice, but rather for his job, I would love to know what Ronald thought about the night!

We met many other wonderful people that day. It is a day I will forever hold in my heart and memory!
