Louisiana Teacher Unions: The Students Are Ours

Through the work of Governor Bobby Jindal, Louisiana has been increasing its voucher program for students. Allowing families to choose schools that perform may be helping improve education in the state. A recent study by Students First put Louisiana at the top of its education policy report.

The voucher plan, while popular with parents desperate to find quality education in a safe environment for their children, is not liked by the state teachers’ union. In the interview below the president of the LA Teacher Union states that “vouchers are taking their children” as if they were owned by the school. Or, in the words of Governor Bobby Jindal: If you didn’t birth them, wipe them or feed them, they’re not yours!

It’s time to stand up everyone! Your children, your offspring, are not the property of the government or a government agent.
