Apologies abound in today’s society as hypersensitive leftists continually find sources of outrage in the most innocuous places. Incapable of simply withstanding the slightest offense, they inevitably demand contrition and the targeted individual or group usually surrenders in an effort to avoid reputational damage.
Ubiquitous toy manufacturer LEGO is among the latest to feel the wrath of political correctness as it relates to a sticker found in some of its product packages.
The sticker, featuring the likeness of the construction worker piece found certain sets of building blocks, also included the phrase, “Hey Babe!”
One father was incensed by the supposed message contained in the sticker, alleging the company “normalized street harassment and cat-calling.”
Josh Stearnes took to the Internet, as upset consumers are wont to do, and before long his photographs and commentary began circulating through cyberspace.
One company spokesperson sent Stearnes an apologetic email explaining the sticker was an attempt at humor, which LEGO has long included in its product designs.
“Clearly, a lot of people didn’t see the humor here,” Stearnes replied, obviously unsatisfied with the response. He continued pressing the issue through additional correspondences and ultimately received a response from another company executive who assured him “we would not approve such a product again.”
Though I don’t endorse misogyny or any form of sexual harassment, I firmly believe this nation has become far too thin-skinned and the next generation is not benefiting from our culture of victimization. Far from crass, this sticker is only objectionable to those seeking something against which to object.
Children’s lives have become so sanitized in this nation that it’s no wonder they either rebel to the point of excess, completely fail at an independent life upon reaching adulthood or, in too many cases, both.
