American Air Base in S. Korea on Lockdown due to Active Shooter .. Drill

** Update – Lockdown lifted due to reported active shooter DRILL – no active shooter was actually present **

A U.S. Military spokesman says that an American military base in South Korea is on lockdown because of reports of an active shooter.

Tech. Sgt. Stacy Foster said that Osan Air Base is on security lockdown due to an active shooter being reported at the on-base high school. No other details are available at this time.

It now appears that the incident is a result of a teacher getting a call about an active shooter drill:

Morgan Nugent, principal of Osan American High School, said in a posting that officials “decided to error on the side of safety” and lock the school down after a teacher received what sounded like an automated call saying there was “an active shooter drill taking place.” There was no such drill scheduled Monday.

All searches have turned up no evidence of an actual shooter and no injuries have been reported.

Over 28,000 troops are stationed at Osan.
