Dealing with Drones -or- How to Pop a Peeper

With the collision of a drone and commercial aircraft in Britain last week, scores of near-misses at U.S. airports and the numerous stories of Dads with shotguns taking out remote peeping Toms, it was only a matter of time before the market provided some defense against those pesky flying cameras.

First, if you plan on taking the ‘Murika’ approach and shotgunning a drone out of the sky, understand that you could be prosecuted under Federal aviation law. Drones are now required to be registered with the FAA as aircraft and as such disabling or interfering with a drone’s operation could land you in hot water. Discharging a firearm in city limits could leave you facing additional local issues.
