Presumptive republican nominee Donald Trump says that he doesn’t intend to announce his running mate before the GOP convention.
Trump has said that the list has been narrowed to 5 or 6 people that are all very seasoned politicians. Donald’s reasoning for picking a politico is that he’ll need help navigating D.C.’s ways of getting things done and because “politicians are, generally speaking, pretty well vetted.”
Announcing his running mate, possible names for the Supreme Court and a few cabinet possibles could go a long way to calming the nerves of republican insiders and voters. Whether or not those choices unify the different coalitions on the right depends upon his picks.
Trump had announced Corey Landowski as the chair of his VP search team which includes Ben Carson and Trump.
Speculation on Trump’s possible pick has included Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, Newt Gingrich, Rick Perry, Jan Brewer and Chris Christie.
Even with Trump naming Gov. Christie as the chair of his transition team, Donald said that it doesn’t take Christie off the list.
Rick Perry and Jan Brewer both have said that they would accept a VP nod from Trump, but Marco Rubio has definitively said that he is not interested.
