Schultz is facing off against previously little-known law professor Tim Canova who was elevated to relevance by Bernie Sanders.
Sanders railed against the Democrat establishment and saw Canova as a fellow combatant in his revolution against the DNC. Sanders helped him raise money, asked his supporters to support Tim and even had a few of his advisers go to work for Canova after he quit.
Perhaps a bit more effort by Bernie – like campaigning for Canova or at least directly fundraising for him – might have made a difference.
Or not.
Schultz has kept a commanding 10 point lead over the professor in recent polling and as the results dribble in… Shultz is over Canova 57% to 43% (95% reporting so far.)
Most of the vote has been tallied, so the result looks set in stone. Sorry Tim, but I don’t think the Russian hackers are paying a whole lot of attention to this race.
