In a letter to FBI director James Comey, Sen. Reid accused the FBI of possessing “explosive information” about close ties between Trump and Russia.
In my communications with you and other top officials in the national security community, it has become clear that you possess explosive information about close ties and coordination between Donald Trump, his top advisors, and the Russian government — a foreign interest openly hostile to the United States, which Trump praises at every opportunity. The public has a right to know this information. I wrote to you months ago calling for this information to be released to the public. There is no danger to American interests from releasing it. And yet, you continue to resist calls to inform the public of this critical information.
Without a shred of proof, Reid drops this hand grenade on the table and walks away, but who’s surprised. The Senator from Nevada did exactly the same thing in 2012 when he told the press and the public that Mitt Romney hadn’t paid taxes in ten years – a claim that was later proven to be an absolute lie, but it had the desired effect of suppressing republican voter turnout.
Reid later bragged about using the lie to derail Romney’s campaign saying that it was one of the best things he’d ever done.
When asked about the dishonest letter, Reid spokesman Adam Jentleson said that he would “refer to the language of the letter” which is saying that the letter is true because the letter said it was.
Harry Reid has dropped another bomb that Trump has no way to disprove and Comey probably has a little bit too much on his plate right now to wade into the middle of another election-year controversy.
