Donald Trump told the press corps that his day had ended and as far as politics go that was correct – then he ditched the mainstream media to go have a steak dinner with his family.
Trump slipped the media mob that usually follows him to dine at the 21 Club, a famous New York steakhouse at which he received a standing ovation from patrons and staff.
Members of the press have expressed dismay that they were told Trump’s day had ended before the dinner event.
Just after 6pm, Trump spokeswoman Stephanie Hicks told the press that Donald’s day had come to an end, but at 7pm a presidential motorcade of no less than a dozen vehicles left Trump tower for the popular Club 21 steakhouse just four blocks away.
The media has raised objections to Trump’s escape from the press.
Hicks told reporters that this impromptu dinner was not a sign of things to come, but that a protective press pool had not yet been set up.
