In a CBS “Face the Nation” interview over the weekend, former Secretary of State Dr. Henry Kissinger said that President-elect Donald Trump will be a president like the world has never seen.
When asked about Trump’s run for President, Kissinger said that he gives Trump, “huge credit for having analyzed an aspect of the American situation, develop a strategy, carry it out against the leadership of his own party and prevail.”
Kissinger says that Trump “is a phenomenon that foreign countries haven’t seen” which, given the vacuum created as Obama pulled the United States back from its leadership position in the world and the policy positions Trump is taking could lead to a very different kind of interaction between the world and America. “One could imagine that something remarkable and new emerges out of it,” Kissinger said.
Kissinger recognizes that the new opportunities presented to Donald Trump may well position him for a historical presidency.
“Trump has the possibility of going down in history as a very considerable president,” said Kissinger.
