AT&T Experienced Nationwide Outage Affecting 9-1-1 Calls

Telecommunications operator AT&T began to experience a nationwide technical outage on Wednesday evening that made it impossible for its customers to use 9-1-1 emergency services from AT&T serviced phones.

The outage was resolved late Wednesday night, but authorities in Washington, D.C., Florida, Louisiana, Tennessee, Texas, Colorado, Virginia, and Indiana have offered alternative numbers to text or call in the case of emergency.

AT&T officials said that a service issue affected wireless 9-1-1 calls.

Federal Communications Commission director Ajit Pai tweeted that he is from the government and here to help.
