Police opened fire, shot and killed a knife-wielding man outside the Houses of Parliament in London, England.
Scottland Yard is treating this incident as a terrorist attack, during which four people have died and dozens more are injured – some “catastrophically.”
At approximately 2:30 pm local time/10:30 am Eastern time, a car mowed down several pedestrians on Westminster Bridge before ramming the Westminster Palace fence.
The driver then got out of the wrecked vehicle and ran towards the Houses of Parliament where he charged at officers, stabbed a policeman and was then shot by police.
Reports say that four people have died. The policeman that was stabbed and the attacker both have died as well as two people struck by the assailant’s car on the bridge.
Varying witness reports say that between two and eight bodies were visible on the Westminster Bridge with two completely covered by blankets. A person was spotted floating in the Themes river below.
