President Expected to Sign New Immigration Executive Order Monday

President Donald Trump is expected to sign an executive order on Monday suspending immigration from six middle-eastern and African countries.

The new order replaces the previous travel suspension that has been held up in the judicial system and will stop all immigration from  Iran, Libya, Syria, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen for a 90-day period.

The new order removes Iraq from the list due to Iraq’s imposition of better vetting processes and data-sharing agreements.

The president’s action also removes references to any religious group to avoid scrutiny by the courts.

Legal permanent residents – green card holders – from the six prohibited nations will not be affected by the new order.

The signing of this newest action is not on the president’s official schedule, but according to senior officials will happen at some point today.
