White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer told reporters Monday that no one in the White House was under investigation by the F.B.I. as far as he was aware.
The comment came as FBI Director James Comey told members of Congress earlier that associates of the president were being investigated for ties to Russia during the campaign.
Comey and NSA Director Admiral Mike Rogers said that there was no evidence of any collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia nor was there any evidence that the Russians manipulated individual votes or the tallies.
House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes said in his opening statement that there was no evidence supporting President Trump’s claims that former President Obama wiretapped Trump tower, but other forms of surveillance could quite possibly have been pointed at the president during his campaign.
Democrat committee members focused their comments on people that have not been associated with the campaign nor the administration for some time.
