The Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security said Sunday that Trump is serious about enforcing the laws on illegal immigration.
Secretary John Kelly reminded the host of “Meet the Press” that there are laws and a system of justice in America and illegal immigration is .. illegal.
“You have to remember that there’s a system, a legal justice system in place,” Kelly said. “The law deports people. Secretary Kelly doesn’t. ICE doesn’t. It’s the United States criminal justice system or justice system that deports people.”
The laws have not changed, but the Trump administration is enforcing them to a greater degree than previous administrations.
Where the Obama administration might not have deported someone even with multiple DUI’s, under Trump, “even a single DUI, depending on other aspects, would get you into the system,” Kelly said.
In the same interview that aired Sunday, the secretary also discussed the North Korean threat.
“In the case of North Korea, you know, a kinetic threat (missile attack) against the United States right now I don’t think is likely, but certainly a cyber-threat,” he said.
