Oh my .. the same top Obama official that went on news shows after Benghazi and falsely claimed that it was caused by an internet video has now been fingered for unmasking a Trump team member.
A Fox News report broke the story that Obama’s National Security Advisor Susan Rice is the person responsible for having unmasked American citizens but even more damning is the timing.
Intelligence sources said the logs discovered by National Security Council staff suggested Rice’s interest in the NSA materials, some of which included unmasked Americans’ identities, appeared to begin last July around the time Trump secured the GOP nomination and accelerated after Trump’s election in November launched a transition that continued through January.
Likely knowing full-well that her politically-motivated activities could result in a federal prison term, Rice said this when interviewed on March 22nd:
Rice denies knowing anything about the unmasking, but government sources told Fox News that she was the Obama administration official who authorized the possibly illegal activity.
“I know nothing about this,” Rice exclaimed and added, “I was surprised to see reports from Chairman Nunes on that count today.”
If there was nothing nefarious about Rice’s activity, why disavow it on the record?
Rice also says she saw no Russian connection to Trump, refuting the politically-motivated and proofless witch hunt upon which Chuck Schumer and democrats have sent congress and the FBI.
“I’m not aware of any connection,” Rice responded when asked if Trump campaign officials were colluding with the Russians.
Rice now refuses to comment on Monday’s revelations that she authorized the unmasking and dissemination of U.S. citizens identities.
At this time, nothing described is illegal. Simply unmasking someone so that other authorized persons can understand context is normal as long as the unmasking adds to the value of foreign intelligence.
The real concern is the dissemination of the unmasked information as was the case with Lt. Gen. Mike Flynn. That Rice disavowed any knowledge of the act she directly authorized smells of a cover-up.
So how did Flynn’s name end up in the papers? Check out Dr. Evelyn Farkas’ interview with MSNBC’s Mika Brzenzski HERE.
How closely was Rice tied to that effort? It’s hard to say now, but heck, I’m sure we’ll learn even less once she is called to testify to congress and spends eight hours repeating, “I decline to comment on the advice of counsel.”
