Congressional negotiators reached a deal to fund the U.S. government through the end of September according to officials.
The new $1.5 trillion agreement will extend a one-week spending resolution set to expire on May 5th
There is nothing in the agreement to fund President Trump’s border wall, but there is $1.5 billion for other border security.
$12.5 billion in money for defense spending is also reportedly in the deal.
The concessions to the minority party democrats are concerning. Republicans agreed to continue paying Obamacare subsidies while halting funding cuts to Planned Parenthood and Sanctuary Cities.
Democrats seem pleased with the deal.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi praised the proposal, saying in a statement “we have made significant progress improving the omnibus bill.”
“This agreement is a good agreement for the American people, and takes the threat of a government shutdown off the table,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said in a statement.
The bill will go before both houses this week for a vote.
