President Donald Trump has selected Wall Street financier Anthony Scaramucci to the position of communications director for the White House and White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer has resigned.
Scaramucci replaces Mike Dubke who resigned in May after only holding the post for three months and Sean Spicer has resigned due to the new hire.
Mr. Scarammucci has been a highly-visible supporter of the president.
White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer had been pulling double-duty acting as the White House communications director and press secretary since Dubke’s departure.
Scaramucci sold his asset management business, Skybridge, earlier this year in anticipation of joining the Trump administration.
Spicer had decided to leave the administration after hearing that Scaramucci would be taking the communications director job that Sean had been angling for.
Spicer has been moving more into the background for over a month as Sarah Huckabee Sanders had taken over the daily press briefings and been the face of the administration to the press.
The change comes as the White House has continued to struggle with its messaging.
