Baltimore Removes Confederate Statues in Overnight Stealth Operation

With a move that brings back memories of how Baltimore Colts owner Robert Irsay loaded up the moving vans under the cover of darkness when he relocated the city’s treasured NFL team to Indianapolis back in 1984, four Confederate statues were taken down overnight.

In the dead of night, the city of Baltimore capitulated to the zealots and avoided any bothersome protests by executing a stealth operation to remove the monuments in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Confederate statues in Baltimore were removed from their bases overnight, as crews using heavy machinery loaded them onto flat bed trucks and hauled them away, an end to more than a year of indecision surrounding what to do with the memorials.

The action comes after Mayor Catherine Pugh pledged to remove four statues linked to the Confederacy from public spaces in the city and the Baltimore City Council unanimously passed a resolution to tear them down after a national conversation was renewed following a deadly act of terror during a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Va. on Saturday.

Mayor Catherine Pugh said Wednesday morning crews working for the city began removing the four Confederate monuments at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday and finished at 5:30 a.m.

“It’s done,” she said Wednesday morning. “They needed to come down. My concern is for the safety and security of our people. We moved as quickly as we could.”

Pugh said she personally watched as monuments were taken down.

Baltimore’s black female mayor Catherine Pugh was given political cover by a media that has distorted and misreported the events that took place in Charlottesville, VA on Saturday to airbrush the role of leftist agitators out of the picture.

It was then quite simple to blame white supremacists and neo-Nazis who were a part of a rally to exercise their First Amendment rights to free speech and assembly which were stomped on as soon as the troublemakers stirred up violence.

Mayor Pugh’s actions will be met with gratitude by many of the constituents in her crime-ridden city and especially by one Democrat Congressman Elijah Cummings who has continually launched what appear to be attacks driven by racial animus at President Donald Trump.

But what does this way about the state of Baltimore where there is no open debate and no opposing viewpoints allowed?
