New York Mayor Bill de Blasio Mulls Removal of Christopher Columbus Statue

Globetrotting New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has made it clear that he is in the camp with the fanatics now that he is mulling the removal of a statue of Christopher Columbus.

The latest leftist craze of forcing the tearing down of Confederate monuments throughout the U.S. was always self-limiting to the zealots and anarchists, simply because there is a limited number of such statues.

But hey, that’s never a problem to the whackos who have declared war on America, they hate pretty much everything about this country so they have plenty of other statues and memorials to go after and next on the hit list seems to be Columbus.

The left HATES Columbus, a man who has been transformed in their sick minds into a monster who represents all that is evil in this once great country. Every year on Columbus Day, there are protests aplenty but this year is really going to be uncharted territory considering how the media and key Democrats are egging them on.

One of those Democrats is New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, a man whose contempt for his country and its legitimately elected President Donald Trump is not exactly a secret, especially after his July junket to Hamburg where he spoke to communists and anarchists – many of whom had participated in riots – while Trump was at the G-20 summit.

Hizzoner’s day of reckoning is approaching and if reelected, he will use the New York mayor’s office as a de facto Bill de Blasio 2020 campaign headquarters for a presidential run.

In a gesture to the radical left, de Blasio is considering the removal of a statue of Columbus that has stood in the Big Apple for over a century.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio may order the removal of the statue of Christopher Columbus in Manhattan’s Columbus Circle.

The statue, which is over 100 years old, is one of the city artifacts currently under review in an effort to remove “symbols of hate.” De Blasio, a Democrat who is running for re-election this November, ordered the review after the violent confrontations between white supremacists and counter-protesters in Virginia earlier this month.

De Blasio said the statue would be subject to the review. “We have to look at everything here,” de Blasio said during Wednesday night’s Democratic mayor debate.

The statue was given to the City by a group of Italian Americans in 1892. The NYPD Columbia Association, which includes thousands of Italian American police officers, is one of the groups fighting to keep the statue on public grounds.

President Trump was absolutely right in his post-Charlottesville remarks that it won’t stop at Confederate statues, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson will also be on the hit list because they were slave owners.

Columbus will serve as a bridge between the Confederacy and the Founding Fathers.

De Blasio’s gambit does come with a certain amount of risk attached, New York is full of people of Italian descent who are proud of their heritage and it could cost him at the ballot box.
