According to White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders, White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon will be leaving the White House at the end of day Friday.
“White House Chief of Staff John Kelly and Steve Bannon have mutually agreed today would be Steve’s last day,” Sanders said in a statement. “We are grateful for his service and wish him the best.”
It is rumored that Mr. Bannon tendered his resignation earlier this week and that he, John Kelly and Trump have been discussing the best way to handle his departure as recently as Friday morning.
Bannon has faced accusations that the massive leaks coming from the White House were likely from him. Along with his self-admitted power-playing and infighting with the rest of the administration, he didn’t seem long for his current position.
In the last week, Bannon has also given two questionable interviews one of which undercut the president on North Korea and glorified his attempts to unseat rivals within the administration. Bannon seemed to be daring John Kelly to dismiss him.
