Alicia Vikander shows off her action chops in the first trailer for the reboot of the Tomb Raider series.
The film doesn’t carry the story on where Angelina Jolie left it after Tomb Raider (2001) and The Cradle of Life (2003) but instead restarts the series in line with the story from the video game.
Lara is ripped from her struggling life as a bike messenger and into her father’s world of archeology and she’ll have to use her wits, strength and fierce independence to save humanity and perhaps solve the mystery of her father’s disappearance.
The film stars Oscar winner Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina, The Danish Girl) in the lead role. The film’s production begins on the heels of the 20th anniversary of the wildly popular video game franchise from Square Enix, Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal. The movie also stars Dominic West (Money Monster, 300), Walton Goggins (The Hateful Eight, Django Unchained) and Daniel Wu (AMC’s “Into the Badlands”).
Directed by Roar Uthaug and produced by Oscar-winner Graham King (The Departed), Tomb Raider hits theaters March 16, 2018.
