If the Oakland Raiders didn’t rue the day that they lured chronic malcontent Marshawn Lynch out of retirement before Thursday, they probably do now.
The former Seattle Seahawk has been nothing but trouble since suiting up in the silver and black. From sitting on his ass during the national anthem (and encouraging others by example) to wearing a t-shirt with an anti-Trump message to his lackluster play on the field.
Remember, that this was a team that had Super Bowl aspirations and saw Lynch as the missing piece to a championship. His statistics are horrendous. He has yet to top 100 yards rushing and has three games with less than 20 yards – including last night.
These don’t offset the malevolent influence that this thug has had on the locker room chemistry nor the effect that his outbursts have had on fan perception of the NFL.
On Thursday Night Football in the game against the division rival Kansas City Chiefs, Lynch slipped the chain.
Following a late hit on quarterback David Carr by Chiefs defender Marcus Peters – reportedly a good friend – the hulking thug ran from the sidelines to protect Peters from his OWN teammates as well as a referee who he grabbed by the shirt.
Lynch was promptly ejected from the game for his assault of the official. He then changed, covered his face and went to sit in the stands to watch the game.
That Lynch also sat out the national anthem again before attacking the referee is yet another public relations dumpster fire for Roger Goodell and the NFL who if they suspend him will have yet another martyr on their hands.
