SpaceX launched Koreasat-5A from Launch Complex 39A (LC-39A) at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, Florida on Monday, October 30 at 3:34 p.m. EDT, or 19:34 UTC.
Koreasat is a communications satellite operated by KT-Sat, South Koreas sole satellite provider. It contains 36 Ku-band transceivers and will provide coverage for southeast Asia and the Middle-East.The satellite was deployed into a geostationary orbit approximately 36 minutes after liftoff after two engine burns. The first burn achieves GTO (geostationary transfer orbit) and the second burn completes the Hohmann transfer to a higher Geostationary orbit over the desired location.
Following stage separation, Falcon 9’s first stage returned to Earth and landed on the “Of Course I Still Love You” droneship stationed in the Atlantic Ocean.
