According to a Wall Street Journal report, Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team issued a subpoena in mid-October to President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign demanding documents from more than a dozen officials in what is clearly a last ditch effort to find … anything.
The request cited Russia-related keywords meaning that Mueller wasn’t actually sure what he was after but would take anything with any language, no matter how vague, related to Russia.
According to reports, the campaign was caught off-guard by the unusual request.
The campaign team was surprised by the subpoena since they have been voluntarily working with Mueller’s team and sharing information and documents, however, the Trump officials are handing over the documents on an “ongoing” basis, the source added.
This new and unusual tactic hints at an investigation in search of a crime.
