First Lady Melania Trump and son Barron Trump are set to receive the White House Christmas tree Monday afternoon.
The tree came from a Wisconsin Christmas Tree farm after the owners won a contest held by the National Christmas Tree Association.
The 19′ 6″ Balsam fir will arrive on a horse-drawn wagon and go on display in the White House Blue Room.
Varying accounts place the first indoor White House Christmas tree between 1850 and 1891, but First Lady Lou Hoover started in 1929 the tradition of president’s wives decorating them.
North Carolina tops the list of states that have provided the most Christmas trees with 11 trees having been sent to the White House. Wisconsin and Washington take second and third place with 8 and 7 trees respectively, including this year’s tree.
After viewing the tree, Mrs. Trump and Barron greeted the owners of the Wisconsin tree farm from which the tree came.
