Disqualified: Mueller should recuse himself or be removed

“NBC’s Tom Winter, Pete Williams, and Ken Dilanian report that Attorney General Jeff Sessions has ordered DOJ prosecutors to interview the FBI agents who investigated possible corruption in the Uranium One deal and its players’ links to the Clinton Foundation.” Breitbart News, December 21, 2017.

Because uranium is considered an asset with national security implications, the 2010 sale to Rosatom, a Kremlin controlled nuclear energy firm, was subject to approval by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS). CFIUS is an intragovernmental agency that includes input from the Departments of State (Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State at the time), Treasury, Justice (Mueller was Director of the FBI at the time), Energy, Defense, Commerce and Homeland Security, as well as the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative. Note that Eric “Contempt of Congress” Holder was the Attorney General at the time.

That is problematic for Special Counsel Robert Mueller who served as the Director of the FBI at the time of the Uranium One transaction. Mueller’s tenure was from September 4, 2001 to September 4, 2013. He quite likely was directly involved in the Uranium One deal, and may well be a witness or a suspect in that investigation.

Mueller’s time of tenure creates a very likely  untenable conflict of interest in his role as special counsel on the “Russian Collusion” investigation because Hillary Clinton is a subject in both of the Uranium One and the Russian Collusion investigations. It has been widely reported that Mr. Mueller stacked his team with pro Hillary and anti Trump zealots. Now, he may be a target in the Uranium One investigation. Enough is enough.

If Special Counsel Mueller lacks the integrity to recuse himself, it further clouds his credibility to conduct a fair investigation. If he does not step down, he should be removed without delay.
