Politicized Grammy Awards Were a Ratings Dumpster Fire

The NFL is finding out the hard way that sports and leftist politics are a big turnoff and following Sunday night’s hyper-political shit show, the Grammys may soon discover the same is true with music award programs.

It was known well in advance that the 60^th edition of the annual self-congratulatory celebrity circle jerk was going to be all about anti-Trump politics and the performers sure didn’t disappoint.

From the white roses worn by the hypocritical promoters of the phony #MeToo and #TimesUp feminist movements that are just an excuse to wage a war on heterosexual men to the sanctimonious babble of Bono and U2, the Grammys were saturated in politics.

But it got worse…much worse.

A video of none other than Hillary Clinton was shown with the embittered sore loser of the election reading quotes from dishonest smut-monger Michael Wolff’s “Fire and Fury” and joined by rapper Snoop Dogg who still hasn’t fulfilled his promise to move to Uganda.

The early reviews for this garish carnival of liberal perversion are in and it isn’t looking good. In fact, the ratings were bad and could be historically bad.

According to Deadline Hollywood “Grammy Ratings Fall From 2017 As Politics Dominate Music’s Biggest Night”:

Back in New York City for the first time since George W. Bush’s first term and drenched in the politics of the Donald Trump era, last night’s Grammy Awards was rockin’ with multiple wins for a very non-political Bruno Mars and a very, very political Kendrick Lamar. The more than three-and-a half-hour- long CBS show also had an audio book audition cameo by Hillary Clinton (see below), a use or two of the censor button, a lot of U2 and Sting, a powerful Time’s Up speech by Janelle Monáe and an equally powerful performance by Kesha and a chorus of supporters.

With a 12.7/21 in metered market ratings, the Recording Academy’s big hootenanny was also way down from the early numbers from the LA-based February 13, 2017 59th annual show. By way down, I mean a just over 20% decline from last year to what looks to be an all-time low for the ceremony.

The drunken Hillary act was so insane and inappropriate that the Grammy’s may have already locked in even worse losses for next year’s show.

Like the legends of yore about vampires, it was the producers of the show who invited this martini-sucking succubus into their house and they will have to live with the consequences. Chalk it up to the curse of Hillary.

Adding insult to injury? A show that was supposed to be all about the empowerment of women saw male performers dominate the awards and to top it off – the Grammy’s president blamed the victims.

That’s the hashtag brewing after Sunday’s Grammy Awards, where only one of the nine main prizes presented during the telecast was won by a woman.

That would be 21-year-old Alessia Cara, who took home best new artist, and spent her time on the red carpet and backstage speaking out in support of the Time’s Up movement, which was founded by Hollywood celebrities and executives earlier this month to combat sexual harassment and assault.

Dozens of artists — Cara included — came to the Grammys wearing white roses, in solidarity with Time’s Up and sexual misconduct victims. But that spirit of female empowerment wasn’t reflected in this year’s winners, nor in remarks made by Recording Academy president Neil Portnow, who suggested that if women wish to collect more golden gramophones moving forward, they need to double down on their efforts.

“I think it has to begin with women who have the creativity in their hearts and their souls — who want to be musicians, who want to be engineers, who want to be producers, who want to be part of the industry on an executive level — to step up, because I think they would be welcome,” Portnow told journalists backstage after the show.

What a roaring dumpster fire but the Grammys have brought it on themselves and now they can own the consequences.
