The White House on Sunday morning said that overseas military service members will be able to watch the NFL playoff games on the Armed Forces Network despite the government shutdown.
“Update: @DeptofDefense has informed us that AFN has been restored in most places,” White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders tweeted. “Glad our brave men and women can watch the game today.”
The tweet was an update to an earlier post in which Sanders shared an image from a service member in Afghanistan showing AFN shut down.
CDN also reported Saturday on the possibility that our overseas military members might not get to see the game.
Boeing stepped into the conversation late Saturday to offer any assistance to get the games to America’s men and women in uniform.
“.@CBS @FOXTV @NFL @POTUS — #Boeing here to help do whatever needed to show the #NFLPlayoffs on @AFNTelevision to our troops EVERYWHERE. Let us know,” the aircraft manufacturer tweeted.
It appears that the Department of Defense found a creative solution to the AFN outage, but Boeing’s support of our troops is worthy of the praise they received.
