A growing number of companies are ending their relationship with members of the largest gun safety organization in the world sending a message that they blame 5 million National Rifle Association (NRA) members for the actions of a mentally disturbed teenager.
The companies are cancelling discounts for NRA members which will oddly hurt the companies more than the NRA. The gun rights and safety group will likely save money by not having to pay whatever endorsement agreements come with the discounts.
The NRA called the left-wing extremist campaign that is forcing businesses to cut ties with its members calling it “shameful.”
“The law-abiding members of the NRA had nothing at all to do with the failure of that school’s security preparedness, the failure of America’s mental health system, the failure of the National Instant Check System or the cruel failures of both federal and local law enforcement,” the NRA said in a statement Saturday. “Despite that, some corporations have decided to punish NRA membership in a shameful display of political and civic cowardice.”
The “loss of a discount will neither scare nor distract one single NRA member from our mission to stand and defend … individual freedoms,” the NRA added.
