White House Official: Trump to allow release of memo Friday without redactions

President Donald Trump will inform Congress Friday morning that the FISA surveillance memo has been declassified and is ready for publication.

A senior White House official told reporters Thursday afternoon that the president and his administration reviewed the memo for several days to make sure that it did not reveal intelligence assets or methods. After that review, the president said that he is “OK with it” and would inform Congress Friday that they could release it and that no redactions were necessary. Some information was removed at the request of the FBI prior to the White House review.

By clearing Congress to continue the process, it is in the hands of the House of Representatives to decide when and how to release the memo to the public.

Democrats have spent several days attempting to block the release of the memo heightening public outcry to see the document. Most experts expect the memo to reveal unethical if not illegal behavior from senior FBI personnel including the use of political opposition research propaganda to get a surveillance warrant against then-candidate Donald Trump’s campaign.

Friday is likely to be busy news day.
