Report: Bolton to fire dozens amid leak issue

Incoming National Security Advisor John Bolton is set to fire several White House National Security Council officials when he enters the administration next month.

The targets of Bolton’s effort are reported to be Obama holdovers, those disloyal to the president and anyone who has leaked to the media.

“Bolton can and will clean house,” one former White House official said.

Another source said, “He is going to remove almost all the political [appointees] McMaster brought in.”

A second former White House official offered a blunt assessment of former Obama officials currently detailed or appointed to the NSC: “Everyone who was there during Obama years should start packing their shit.”

The report comes just days after leaked National Security Council memos advising Trump to not congratulate Vladimir Putin on his election win made their way into the press.

Leaks from the White House and federal agencies have plagued the Trump administration as Obama loyalists continue to use their positions to hurt the president.
