A group of Republicans plans to introduce a resolution calling for the appointment of a second special counsel to investigate alleged abuses of power at the FBI and Justice Department.

Backed by Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC), Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), the resolution will ask the special counsel to address three areas of alleged misconduct:
“Expressing the sense of Congress that the Attorney General of the United States should appoint a Special Counsel to investigate misconduct at the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation, including an investigation of abuse of the FISA warrant process, how and why the Hillary Clinton probe ended, and how and why the Donald TrumpRussia probe began,” the opening paragraph of the resolution reads.
Currently, Inspector General Michael Horowitz is looking into abuses of power where the Trump dossier was used to gain FISA warrants against Carter Page. Horowitz has just completed an IG investigation into the Clinton Email probe.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions has already refused to appoint a second Special Counsel when previously requested, but Republicans say that it desperately needed in this instance as the Department of Justice should not investigate itself in matters this serious.
