On Iranian Aggression Against Saudi Arabia and Israel

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) pours resources into exporting destabilizing influence throughout the Middle East, even as the Iranian people are victims of a struggling economy. Already this week, the IRGC has fired rockets at Israeli citizens, and Iran’s proxies in Yemen have launched a ballistic missile at Riyadh. These actions are further proof that the Iranian regime’s reckless actions pose a severe threat to regional peace and security. It is time for responsible nations to bring pressure on Iran to change this dangerous behavior.

Both leaders condemned the Iranian regime’s provocative rocket attacks from Syria against Israeli citizens. President Trump called on all nations to join the United States and the United Kingdom in making clear that the Iranian regime’s actions pose a severe threat to international peace and stability. The leaders discussed how best to address Iran’s destabilizing behavior.

President Donald J. Trump spoke today with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong of Singapore.  President Trump thanked Prime Minister Lee for his willingness to host President Trump’s June 12 meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. The two leaders also discussed regional security dynamics in the Indo-Pacific region. President Trump and Prime Minister Lee reaffirmed the relationship between the United States and Singapore, which has been one of the United States’ closest partnerships in Asia for more than 50 years. President Trump said that he looks forward to seeing Prime Minister Lee in Singapore soon.

On the Visit of Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization

President Donald J. Trump will welcome Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) to the White House on May 17, 2018. President Trump and Secretary General Stoltenberg’s meeting will reaffirm the United States’ commitment to the Alliance. The two leaders will discuss the upcoming NATO Summit in July and review progress on United States priorities for NATO, such as the need for fair burden-sharing and NATO’s role in the international fight against terrorism.
