Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) told congregants at a Los Angeles church that she’s on a mission from God against President Donald Trump on Sunday. “You’ve gotta know that I’m here to do the work that I was sent to do and as pastor said to me when I came in this morning, ‘When God sends you to do something, you just do it,” said Waters.
Waters continued, “We never dreamed we’d have someone in the White House who was divisive, who could not tell the truth, and who was intent on not making America great again but taking America down.”
Waters concluded, “So, I have a message. I’m going back to Washington tomorrow morning. I’m going to tell them Pastor told me to come here and just do it!”
Waters drew criticism in June from Democratic leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif) for her controversial comments which called on people to push back on Trump administration officials. “If you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them, and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere,” said Waters at a rally in Los Angeles in June.
