Poll: President Trump’s Approval Rating Climbs; 88% of Republicans Approve

President Donald Trump received a 45 percent approval rating in the most recent Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll. The poll was conducted over a four day period between beginning July 15, one day before Trump’s joint-news conference in Helsinki with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. Trump’s approval is up one percentage point from June and is at its highest point relative to previous polls of presidential approval jointly conducted by the Wall Street Journal and NBC News reports Breitbart News.

Trump’s approval rating among his Republican base hit 88% percent, only former President George W. Bush surpassed this mark after the September 11 terrorist attacks when he had a rating of 96 percent the poll showed. It’s worth noting that the slight increase in Trump’s approval rating appears to be linked to the high level of approval he now is receiving within his Republican base.

However, the poll reveals that 51% of voters disapprove of Trump’s handling of Russia relations with just 26% saying they approve. Additionally, the poll showed 58% don’t approve of how Trump’s dealing with immigration while just 31% approved. Further, Trump continues to get good marks from voters on the economy with 50% approving of Trump’s handling of the economy.

Democrats had a sampling size advantage among the poll’s respondents. Among those polled, 40 percent identified as Democrats or leaning Democrat, 15 percent identified as independents, and 36 percent identified as Republicans or leaning Republican reports Breitbart.

The poll was conducted over a four-day period beginning July 15, It polled 900 registered voters and has a plus-minus 3.27 percentage point margin of error.
