A new report out Wednesday reveals the 25 Highest Paying Jobs in America for 2018 with some surprising results and others, like Doctors and Lawyers, at the top as expected.
Nearly seven in ten (67 percent) job seekers and workers say that salary is a key piece of information they hone in on when researching jobs, according to a recent survey. A new report by Glassdoor helps people better understand which jobs pay the highest salaries.
Based on salary reports shared by employees with these jobs on Glassdoor over the past year, this report highlights each job’s median annual base salary and the current number of job openings nationwide.
Glassdoor’s 25 Highest Paying Jobs in America for 2018 are:
1. Physician

Thirteen of Glassdoor’s 25 Highest Paying Jobs in America for 2018 are tech jobs, more than any other profession and up from 11 in 2017. There are five health care jobs on the list, down from six in 2017, including the top three, Physician (No. 1, $195,842), Pharmacy Manager (No. 2, $146,412) and Pharmacist(No. 3, $127,120). Eight job titles are new this year, including Strategy Manager (No. 18, $101,754), Cloud Engineer (No. 23, $96,449) and Data Scientist (No. 25, $96,116). Nurse Practitioner (No. 9, $106,962) has the highest number of current job openings with 14,931 positions.
“The fact that employers are paying top dollar for many tech and health care jobs reinforces how demand for these valuable skillsets continues to outpace the supply of talent with these expertises,” said Glassdoor Economic Research Analyst Amanda Stansell. “We know that salary matters a lot to job seekers when determining where to work, but it should not be the only factor to consider. We’ve foundthat company culture and values, career opportunities and trust in senior leadership matter most when it comes to keeping employees satisfied in their jobs long-term.”
