Cuomo tries to escape ‘America Was Never That Great’ and fails

America “was never that great,” said New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo during a speech on Wednesday in response to President Donald Trump’s campaign slogan of “Make America Great Again”.

During his speech, Cuomo said  “We’re not going to make America great again. It was never that great.”

President Donald Trump weighed in on the speech slamming Cuomo as “the Governor of the highest taxed state in the U.S.” and accused Cuomo of having a “total meltdown.”

“Can you believe this is the Governor of the Highest Taxed State in the U.S., Andrew Cuomo, having a total meltdown!” Trump posted to Twitter Wednesday.

Later in the speech, Cuomo argued America will only become great when sexual discrimination against women has ended.

“We have not reached greatness. We will reach greatness when every American is fully engaged. We will reach greatness when discrimination and stereotyping against women, 51 percent of our population, is gone, and every woman’s full potential is realized and unleashed, and every woman is making her full contribution. When that happens this nation is going to be taken even higher,” said Cuomo.

Reacting to the speech was the Republican challenger for the New York gubernatorial seat, Marc Molinaro, who said Cuomo “owes the nation an apology.”

Cuomo attempted to walk back the remark, and CDN’s own Editor-in-chief reacted.

“Too late,” Mr. Mitchell said. “He [Cuomo] whipped it out in front of a pink-hat crowd and when it went national he knew he’d jumped the shark, the shark’s family, most of the shark’s friends and any fish related to sharks. Perhaps even mammals that swim near sharks.
