Fox News Dominates Cable News Ratings for July

Fox New’s continues to crush its competitors in the ratings for the month of July. Fox News had four of the top five most-watched cable news shows in July. Fox was led by Sean Hannity who had the most watched cable news show of the month.

Hannity and Tucker Carlson were among the top-two spots overall in the news ratings. According to The Hill Hannity averaged 3.37 million viewers and Carlson averaged 2.70 million viewers.

Hannity and Carlson were followed by Rachel Maddow of MSNBC who average 2.67 million viewers.

Mediate reports that Hannity did very well in the 25-54 demo scoring 623K viewers in the demo, Carlson with 524K, and Maddow with 511K.

Additionally, Laura Ingraham, coming off her highest-rated quarter since launching in October 2017, finished fourth overall while winning her 10 p.m. timeslot, averaging 2.61 million viewers per night and topping MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell’s 2.117 million viewers reports The Hill.

During primetime, Fox News led the field averaging a total of 2.41 million viewers doubling the viewers of CNN who averaged only 891K. Fox News was followed by MSNBC who average 1.66 million viewers. CNN was third with 891K viewers.

The month of July included the announcement of Brett Kavanaugh as Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, the Helsinki summit and an escalated trade war with Europe and China. During July Fox News’ Hannity and Carlson both had the chance to interview President Donald Trump after the Helsinki summit with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
