Democrat Senators begin Kavanaugh hearing with organized protest

Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) acknowledged Tuesday that he and his fellow Democrats orchestrated the slew of motions they issued at the start of the hearing to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.

Democrat Senators issued objections on document vetting, assertions of executive privilege on some documents, the number of documents and just about anything and everything imaginable. They also issued multiple motions to adjourn the hearing. While the media states that their objective was to delay the hearing, but it quickly became obvious that it was all for the optics.

“This is something I’ve never gone through before in 15 Supreme Court nominations,” Senate Judiciary Chair Chuck Grassley said of Democrats’ repeated motions.

Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) referred to an NBC News tweet that confirmed that Democrats coordinated the multitude of motions as a protest tactic.

“Democratic senators opened Kavanaugh confirmation hearing with a protest plan that was coordinated and agreed to over the weekend, people familiar with the planning tell @NBCPolitics,” NBC tweeted.

Senator Durbin then acknowledged that the motions were a carefully orchestrated plan concocted on a conference call over the long weekend.

Frustrated with the Democrats childish obstructionism, Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley asked, “How long do you want to go on with this,” he asked the Democrats. “Do you want this to go on all day?”

Senate Democrats weren’t the only ones protesting during the hearing. Capitol Hill police said that at least 22 people had been arrested for attempting to disrupt the committee session.
