Sarah Sanders Responds To Question On Whether To Allow Deborah Ramirez To Testify On Kavanaugh Allegation

The second woman to accuse judge Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault may testify at the Senate Judiciary hearing Thursday according to White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders.

“Certainly we would be open to that, and that process could take place on Thursday,” Sanders said on “Good Morning America” Tuesday. Sanders noted that while the White House is amenable to testimony from Kavanaugh accuser Deborah Ramirez, the process should not continue to be drawn out, The Washington Post reported Tuesday.

“I do think it’s unfair to continue to drag the process out and continue to put good people through the wringer for the sake of political games the Democrats want to play,” Sanders said in a separate interview, according to WaPo.

Deborah Ramirez claimed Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh thrust his exposed penis into her face without her consent while at a party in the mid-1980s, but admitted she wasn’t totally sure it was actually Kavanaugh who allegedly perpetrated the assault until studying her memory for nearly a week.

“Ms. Ramirez herself contacted former Yale classmates asking if they recalled the incident and told some of them that she could not be certain Mr. Kavanaugh was the one who exposed himself,” The New York Times reported. “The Times had interviewed several dozen people over the past week in an attempt to corroborate her story, and could find no one with firsthand knowledge,” the report also stated.

The judiciary committee has contacted Ramirez and her lawyer, but no official invite to publicly testify has been offered thus far, according to WaPo.

Ramirez’s accusations come after Christine Blasey Ford alleged that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her when they were both minors. The allegations were first reported by The New Yorker on Sept. 14. Ford cannot remember exactly where or when the alleged assault occurred. She said she believes it happened during the summer of 1982.

A number of other alleged witnesses have told the Senate Judiciary Committee they don’t recall any party or the events that were reported to have occurred.

Stormy Daniels lawyer Michael Avenatti tweeted Tuesday morning that there is a third woman who may come forward in the next 36 hours with allegations that Kavanaugh assaulted her.

Kavanaugh has denied all allegations of assault. The Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a public hearing for Kavanaugh and his accusers on Thursday.
