An airplane carrying First Lady Melania Trump was forced to turn around a few minutes after takeoff due to officials are calling “a technical issue.”
Members of the media accompanying Mrs. Trump said that there was a burning smell shortly after the plane took off and that “a thing haze of smoke” began forming in the cabin.
The smell became stronger about 10 minutes into the flight and the plane returned to Joint Base Andrews just after 9:00 AM ET.
A member of the crew said that the smell was from “a malfunctioning comms unit” and that it was just a minor technical issue.
