Ivanka says she doesn’t want Haley’s job, in oddly worded tweet

The First Daughter told the world that she won’t be taking Nikki Haley’s job as U.S. Ambassador the United Nations, but there must be something behind the way Ivanka Trump chose to make that announcement.

“It is an honor to serve in the White House alongside so many great colleagues and I know that the President will nominate a formidable replacement for Ambassador Haley,” Ivanka posted on Twitter. “That replacement will not be me.”

That’s a no-doubt “no” from Ivanka to a question that must have been asked, but by whom?

Speculation in the media rose just after Haley and President Trump announced her departure. “Will Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner replace Nikki Haley” a Newsweek headline asked. Social media went full-on ‘Ivanka is the next U.N. ambassador’ as well.

Between the mainstream media and Twitter, Ivanka must have felt it necessary to make a statement – and a statement she did make.

Absolutely no one in the political world believes that either Ivanka nor Jared will be asked to take that position. It requires a Senate confirmation hearing and they, as well as the president, aren’t looking for a repeat of the Kavanaugh confirmation.

No, the president will likely choose someone who has already gone through the process and could walk into the job. The U.S. Ambassador to Germany, Richard Grenell, is seen as the front-runner with K.T. McFarland and Heather Nauert also in the mix.
