EDINBURG, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley arrested a criminal alien and gang member in two separate incidents.
On Wednesday morning, Harlingen agents encountered a group of eight illegal aliens near the Progreso Port of Entry. During processing, agents identified a Guatemalan national with a prior arrest and conviction in St. Mary County, Maryland, for negligent homicide with an automobile/boat. The man received two years in prison.
That evening, agents working near Roma, Texas, arrested a Salvadoran man after he illegally entered the United States. During processing, the subject’s record checks confirmed he is a Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang member. Furthermore, the man displayed several tattoos affiliated with the criminal organization.
The Border Patrol is processing the subjects accordingly.
